Bilateral Programmes
Upon Romania's and Bulgaria's accession to the European Union, most of the bilateral assistance programmes, either governmental or business-to-business, have come to an end. Dutch companies can stil visit the website of the EVD for available activities.
Small Nature Management Initiatives projects (MATRA KNIP)
The preservation of nature values is being supported through Small Nature Management Initiatives projects MATRA KNIP. These projects are financed by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the implementation responsibility rests with the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality.
BBI-MATRA (formerly PIN-MATRA)
The International Policy Programme Biodiversity (BBI-MATRA) is a support scheme for nature projects in Central and Eastern Europe aims meant to:
1. Promote development and implementation of biodiversity projects in MATRA countries.
2. Promote concrete measures for site protection and management in MATRA countries
The programme grants projects under the following themes:
1. policy development for nature management and ecological networks;
2. increasing support for nature management;
3. site protection and management of ecosystems and exchange of knowledge and expertise on ecosystems;
4. promotion of a sustainable relationship between agriculture and nature management.
The programme is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. More information is available at www.proforis.nl
Strengthening trade relations and promoting investments
The strengthening of the trade relations between the Netherlands and Romania, Bulgaria and Greece is realised by:
• Business match-making
• Dissemination of market information
• Organisation of trade contact meetings and seminars
• Organisation of demonstration days
• Provision of lists of potential trade partners
• Periodical meetings of representatives of the Agricultural Office with Dutch companies interested in doing business in the region
