Education
Education in the Netherlands
In the Netherlands, as in most other countries, the education system is divided into three main categories: primary, secondary and higher education. Besides the regular universities, which offer research-oriented programmes, there are also universities of professional education, offering career-oriented programmes, as well as several Institutes of International Education.
The Netherlands organisation for international co-operation in higher education (NUFFIC) provides useful information both on the Dutch education system in general and on international courses and scholarships.
For more information about aspects of the education system, as well as about Dutch culture, science and research, you can visit the website of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
Scholarship Programmes for Romanian candidates
For a Romanian candidate, there is only one programme applicable - the Huygens Programme. It is meant for outstanding students who are nearing completion of their studies at master's degree level, or who have recently graduated. Nationals of more than fifty countries are eligible and the decision to award a scholarship is made in the Netherlands, by an independent committee of experts. For more information on the Huygens Programme, please visit the NUFFIC website.
