Visa for Romanian citizens

 

As from January 1st, 2002 Romanian Citizens can travel in the Schengen countries without a visa, for a maximum of 90 days in a six
month period.
As from January 1st, 2005 Romanian citizens can travel without a visa to the Netherlands Antilles (Curaçao, St. Maarten, St. Eustatius, Saba and Bonaire) for a maximum of 90 days in a six-month period.
As from October 1st, 2006 Romanian citizens can travel without a visa to Aruba.

 

For any period over 90 days in 6 months in the Netherlands, starting the 1st of January 2007, Romanian citizens can apply for a temporary residence permit directly at the Municipality in the Netherlands.

As far as the access to the labour market is concerned, the Dutch government has decided to continue the obligation for employers to arrange for a work permit (tewerkstellingsvergunning, TWV) for work carried out by Romanian citizens. The work permit is issued by the Labour Office in the Netherlands.
